How do I know if my vehicle has low ground clearance?

Vehicles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and some are much closer to the ground than others.

But what qualifies as "high ground clearance"?

Generally, vehicles with high ground clearance have 9 inches or more between the road and their lowest point. Please note that the lowest point of a vehicle is not always the location where a Fumoto valve will be installed.

Good examples of high-clearance vehicles include SUVs and pickup trucks. The Nissan Titan is an excellent example of a vehicle with high ground clearance:

The Lexus LX 470 is another example of a vehicle with high ground clearance:

What qualifies as low ground clearance?

Vehicles with low ground clearance generally have 6.5 inches or less between the ground and the lowest point of the chassis.

Common examples of low-clearance vehicles include sedans and sports cars. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is a prime example of a vehicle with low ground clearance:

The Toyota Camry is another great example of a vehicle with low ground clearance:

Please note that we do not recommend installing N-Type (long-nipple) valves if they can only be positioned vertically toward the ground.

If you need assistance, please feel free to send us your vehicle's year, make, and model, or a photograph of your oil pan. We would be happy to recommend the best valve based on your specific ground clearance. Contact us
